System Components
Although not currently active, we have roughed in radiant heat in the basement slab. Prior to the slab being pour we installed a vapor seal and 2” of insulation – this can be seen at

The intent is to have the slab be a heat dumping zone for our future solar hot water systems, which has also been roughed in. We hope to have the solar hot water installed and operating in the next 12 months.
Green Products
While planning and building our home we initiated a partnership with the Lakes Region Community College. The purpose of the partnership was two fold; to share the experiences of building an energy efficient home and to provide information that would be the basis of on-going educational training for homeowners, builders and manufacturers. Towards that end we are involved with a five year study of performance of the features we have utilized of our home as compared to a conventional home as well as a passive solar home. If you are using a GPS to find us - enter 36 Hedding Rd, Epping NH - this is state route 87 about 1/3 mile east of state route 125. It wil bring you to a new development - Century Oaks - turn in on Morgan Dr and take the first ( and only) left onto Preston - we are the second house on the left - #4
