General Information

Nubanusit Neighborhood & Farm consists of 29 environmentally-designed homes; a Common House; professional office space in a renovated historic farmstead; an organic farm; woodlands with walking trails; and a pond for swimming and skating. The pedestrian community (parking on the periphery) is located on four previously-developed acres of a 100+ acre parcel along the Nubanusit Brook, just over one mile from the town center. A single-family home in the neighborhood has received LEED Platinum certification from the USGBC; all of the buildings are constructed to the same rigorous environmental standards, and use less than half the energy of typical houses. See www.peterboroughcohousing.org.

Features

Photovoltaics (to be installed 2010-2011), grid tied PV, daylighting, heat recovery ventilation, sunspace, LEED rated, FSC Certified wood, non-toxic products & Energy Star appliances. One of our homes has received LEED Platinum certification.

System Components

Our electricity is currently from PSNH with an internal metering system to facilitate getting off the grid in the future either through photovoltaics, hydropower or cogeneration.

Green Products

Plumbing infrastructure for solar hot water collectors on individual homes.

Special Instructions

Please heed 'car-free zone' signs. This is a residential neighborhood. The Common House, Boiler Room, agricultural fields and hoop house and a model home will be open to the public. Visitors are also welcome to walk along the pedestrian ways throughout the neighborhood.
